Donut Division

Division is one of the four basic operations of arithmetic. When we divide, we share a number equally between a certain amount of groups. Division is the opposite operation of multiplication or otherwise known as inverse operation. Knowing the multiplication facts, can help us work out an answer to a division problem.

There are special names for each number in a division statement:

dividend ÷ divisor = quotient

Example: in 12 ÷ 3 = 4:

  • 12 is the dividend
  • 3 is the divisor
  • 4 is the quotient
