It’s the beginning of a new school year and time for my classroom reveal for 2019-2020!
π₯π΅π΅π΅π₯
This year, I chose a really cute and trendy theme, cacti! Or is it cactuses? Well, actually both are correct so I’ll stick to cacti because it sounds so much better, in my opinion, and quite posh! I wanted to give my classroom a fresher, cleaner and calmer feel this year and I think this makeover is right on point! Read on to get a glimpse of my cactus covered classroom!
First, I went cactus crazy creating these cuties out of green card. It was very easy and I didn’t use a template. I just cut out the shape and then stuck the bits at the side out of the scraps that were left; nothing was wasted. I used a black marker to draw the details such as the spikes and face. I then went and put them all around the room!
Cacti everywhere!! I put a cactus border (Twinkl) around my whiteboard; I think it makes it really stand out!
I then tried to stick to a green coloured border with cacti for the science board. The potion science title is again from Twinkl, the pompoms from Jumbo and the paper circle from IKEA. I downloaded the sweet, now turquoise cacti (the printer ran out of ink) from Teachers Pay Teachers.
Up close, they are so sweet even if they have a slightly blue hue! Cactus labels – Twinkl.
The reading area was revamped with a soft, grey cover for the reading couch together with wooden and bottle green backdrops.
The children absolutely adore this cactus cushion, addition to the reading area!
Here is my desk area, it’s still so organised because it’s the beginning! You won’t see it like this during the year once teaching starts! Ha!
I couldn’t completely part with my dragon theme from last year, however, so I still kept a dragon corner to fit in with our class reader ‘How to Train your Dragon’.
Last, but not least, the maths board with some cacti all around.
I even got this awesome present from a colleague who saw my classroom theme and thought of me when she came across these pens!!! π΅π΅ Thanks, Maya! π΅π΅Β
I am excited to share the year with my new pupils in this cactus classroom and get stuck on learning together! I firmly believe that a happy and safe classroom environment will aid to children’s learning and development.
Happy new school year to allβ£οΈ
Like and share this post if you’re bitten by the cactus bug, too! π΅
More additions to come, stay tuned!
Till next time…
Very cute. Your students will love it. As long as it’s not too prickly for them. π
