Why read 20 mins a day?

The more time a child spends reading, the more benefits they shall reap.

Reading is “brain food”. It provides one of the most enriching and complex brain activities available in life. Exposing your child to this at an early age ensures good foundations for later.

Research shows that children who have been repeatedly exposed to books from birth, generally exhibit strong reading abilities. A strong reading ability leads to higher academic success, as so much of schooling relies on the ability to read and comprehend.

It enriches children’s vocabulary, makes them good listeners, writers and problem solvers.

The free printable chart below shows just how beneficial reading just 20 mins per day actually is. Print it out and encourage your children to read to you. It goes without saying that the more  one reads the better a reader they will become!
